A mystic for our time

For Mary of the Trinity mystical experience always goes with the knowledge that is offered to her in the light of prayer. Here’s what she says about it :
“Knowledge is a certain science by means of ideas, while the experience is through immediate … Knowledge does not touch the being, while the experience hugs . In this sense, knowledge should be reserved for the operation of the intellect, faculty of the soul – and experience for the soul, substantial reality , when it comes into immediate and intimate contact with another substantial reality , which can only be God himself.”
